How to Stuff A Wild October (Start with a Horror Weekend)

Hello folks. October is here, and that can mean one thing and one thing only, 31 posts in 31 days leading up to the Halloween Top 13, but more on that in a moment.Today I'm celebrating the kickoff of the Halloween season with a trip to Gatlinburg, TN. For anyone who knows Gatlinburg, that grand entrance to the Smokey Mountains they might think this would be a great spot to start the Christmas season or to frighten yourself by seeing how close you can get to Dollywood and still resist its call. This first weekend in October, something different is in the Gatlinburg air. Mixed in with the average middle aged tourists shuffling in and out of gift-shops, a crowd of darkly dressed people of all sorts mix in and out of those same gift shops, but they're more than likely on their way to Horror Weekend.

This is the first time this convention has been held, and I really have no idea what to expect. The guest list looks interesting (I want to meet Brian O' Halloran, who shouldn't even be here today. (I'm sure he won't hear that for 3 day's straight.)). Plus who wouldn't want to be in a room that contained Diamond Dallas Page, Margot Kidder, Mark Patton, and Ernie Hudson once in their lives? Seeing it's less than a three hour jaunt from The Lair, I wanted to make the trek, and to make it even better, my good pal Fran Goria is coming along for the ride. So today all day and into tomorrow, I'll be sharing pictures and hopefully a story or two from Horror Weekend. Monday, the October movies will start in earnest, and I'll unveil the theme for the Biggest Halloween Top 13 ever!
